Virginia Legislature Passes Bill Requiring Reimbursement for Telemedicine
By a unanimous vote, the Virginia State Legislature yesterday approved SB 675 mandating that health insurers pay for telemedicine services. Governor McDonnell is expected to sign the bill into law. Eleven other states have adopted mandates for the coverage of telemedicine. The other states are: California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas.
Federal Support for Telemedicine
One of the most frequent questions to ATA involves federal support for telemedicine in the United States.
