Online, Direct to Consumer Patient Consultations Becoming Mainstream

A large segment of the industry is offering, or plans to offer online patient consultations in the very near future. 47% of providers recently polled by ATA indicated they are currently providing online services directly to patients.  Of those that indicated they do not currently deliver virtual services, 72%  noted they are considering implementing them in the near future. The top three delivery methods  included: video (77%), audio (57%), and peripheral devices (28%).


Over 475 individuals responded to an ATA survey on this topic last week. This research was conducted as part of the development process for ATA's anticipated accreditation program for providers of online, direct-to-consumer healthcare consultations which is slated to launch this Fall.  Read more about the program here
