President and CEO, MEDARVA Healthcare; ATA Secretary-Elect




Taylan “Ty” Bozkurt currently serves as President and CEO of MEDARVA Healthcare, Central Virginia’s only independent, non-profit health system, which encompasses two ambulatory surgery centers with fourteen operating rooms, an imaging center, a low vision center, and MEDARVA Foundation.

Prior to joining MEDARVA, Ty served as the Chief Technology Officer, VP of Operations and Security Officer of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America (BRCA). During his tenure at BRCA, Ty oversaw the development of the organization’s operations, information systems/technology, marketing and strategic planning, helping BRCA grow from four locations in two states to, at its largest, fifteen locations across ten states and four time zones.

Before BRCA, Ty was Program Manager for Episodic and International Initiatives for Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) TeleHealth while serving as Operations/Financial Specialist for the MGH Department of Surgery.  In Surgery, he was responsible for development and launch of the department’s Telehealth/mHealth programs, creating the hospital’s first TeleRounding program.  With MGH TeleHealth, he focused on development of eConsults and International Virtual Visits.

Ty earned an MBA from Northeastern University and a BS in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises from Syracuse University, is a native of Boston, MA, and was born in Istanbul Turkey.
