California looks to expand coverage for telehealth services

Connected health advocates in California are waiting to see whether Governor Gavin Newsom signs into law a bill mandating coverage parity for telehealth services. The bill also allows payers and providers to negotiate telehealth coverage, provided reimbursement is consistent with reimbursements for in-person services. Alongside this, it doesn’t allow a payer to require the use of telehealth if the provider finds that such a service isn’t necessary.
