Telemedicine and the future of healthcare delivery

I gave my first live tele-cardiology lecture to a medical conference 6,500 miles, or a bit over 10,000 kilometers, and 15 time zones away on a different day (the transmission crossed the date line), plus was able to have a Q&A session with participants, and the only real compromise was needing to speak a bit slower to allow for simultaneous translations. A few days later, I was invited to do a tele-cardiology consultation on a complex case at a leading academic hospital in Beijing, China.
