UTHealth uses telemedicine to refute 'weekend effect' in stroke care

Telemedicine programs that treat stroke victims on nights and weekends are as effective as stroke treatment during normal business hours, according to researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In a study recently published in the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, researchers found no significant difference in “door-to-needle” treatment times between telestroke services delivered off-hours and weekday care.
