ATA’S 6TH ANNUAL TELEHEALTH AWARENESS WEEK TAKING PLACE SEPTEMBER 21–25

First ATA Virtual Insights Session on Responsible AI – From Governance to Deployment

 

WASHINGTON, DC, AUGUST 11, 2026 — The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) today announced that registration is now open for the 6th annual Telehealth Awareness Week (TAW) online events, taking place September 21–25. This national, virtual campaign is organized by the ATA and will feature a series of webinars, interactive panels and, real-world case studies on timely topics shaping the future of care delivery.

Healthcare leaders from the ATA’s Center of Digital Excellence (CODE), Special Interest Groups, and other subject matter experts will share real-world insights, proven best practices, and practical strategies for integrating virtual care into everyday clinical workflows, as well as educational resources to support organizations at every stage of virtual care adoption. Registration is free and open to all.

“Telehealth Awareness Week is a chance to take stock of how far virtual care has come – and how much further it can go. This year’s programming reflects where the field is headed, from AI governance to virtual nursing to digital therapeutics reimbursement and reinforces the ATA’s role in bringing the field’s best thinking to a single, accessible platform,” said Kyle Zebley, CEO of the ATA and Executive Director, ATA Action. “TAW draws on the collective wisdom of our community, sharing deep insights, real-world experience, and innovative solutions with virtual care stakeholders across the healthcare spectrum.”

Kicking Off the ATA’s Virtual Insights Session Series During TAW

Telehealth Awareness Week will also mark the launch of the ATA’s new Virtual Insights Session series, beginning with Responsible AI: From Governance to Deployment on September 22. This webinar series convenes health system executives, clinicians, and AI leaders for candid, peer-driven conversations on the practical realities of scaling technology in care delivery, with key insights compiled into a post-event report for all registrants. Virtual Insights Sessions in this series will also cover scaling virtual health in rural America (October) and state licensure barriers and solutions to expand access to care across state borders (November).

Monday, September 21

• ATA Member-Only Town Hall Meeting (12:00–12:30 PM ET) Highlighting the latest on ATA initiatives, policy developments, and emerging trends in virtual care.
• Talking to Tech: Voice AI and the Future of Pediatric Follow-Up (1:00–2:00 PM ET) The ATA’s Digital Transformation, Pediatrics, and Technology Special Interest Groups (SIGs) examine the responsible deployment of AI voice agents.
• The Human Side of Virtual Care: Patient-Centered Design Across Populations (3:00–4:00 PM ET) Explore what patient-centered virtual care looks like and how technology can enhance rather than replace human connection.

Tuesday, September 22

• Virtual Insights Session: Responsible AI — From Governance to Deployment (1:00–2:30 PM ET) The first of ATA’s three-part Virtual Insights Session series. Join health system executives, clinicians, and AI leaders for an interactive discussion on governing, implementing, and scaling AI responsibly. Key takeaways will be shared with all registrants in a post-event report.
• Digital Therapeutics Commercialization & Reimbursement Playbook: What’s New (3:00–4:00 PM ET) Developed with ATA’s Reimbursement & Commercialization SIG and ClearView, this session unveils a refreshed Digital Therapeutics (DTx) Commercial Launch Playbook built for market access, patient services, marketing, and medical affairs teams.

Wednesday, September 23

• Policy Town Hall: What’s Actually Happening in Washington (1:00–2:00 PM ET) The ATA’s Government Relations SIG hosts an interactive discussion on the reimbursement, AI regulation, and state and federal legislative landscape shaping virtual care.
• Scaling Digital Health: Global, Rural, and Underserved Communities (3:00–4:00 PM ET) A cross-border conversation on the infrastructure, policy, and sustainability challenges of expanding digital health access in the U.S. and worldwide.

Thursday, September 24

• ATA Center of Digital Excellence (CODE): Virtual Nursing and The Patient Experience (1:00-2:00 PM ET) Health system leaders and clinicians discuss how virtual nursing models are improving patient outcomes, safety, and engagement, including in rural and under-resourced settings.
• What Clinicians Actually Need: Tools, Workflows, and the Reality Gap (2:00–3:00 PM ET) Members from across the ATA’s Special Interest Groups examine the gap between how virtual care is designed and how it is experienced by the clinicians delivering it.

Friday, September 25

• Scrubs, Sirens, and Spin: How TV Shapes What Patients Expect from Us (12:00–1:00 PM ET) A discussion about how Hollywood is shaping what patients expect from their care teams – from Scrubs to The Pitt – led by the ATA’s Acute and Critical Care SIG.
