ATA applauds the Federal FCC for its recently announced Connected Care Pilot Program

The ATA (American Telemedicine Association) applauds the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its recently announced $100 million Connected Care Pilot Program. This pilot program is a critical next step in expanding telehealth access to low-income Americans across the nation and fulfilling national needs for transforming healthcare delivery.

Increasingly, access to healthcare is measured as much by access to broadband as proximity to a hospital. The major needs of 21st century healthcare are now for advanced technology and telecommunications services. We are please to see the FCC take the necessary steps in accommodating, fostering, and facilitating the needs and telecommunications solutions for federal healthcare policy. By providing the connectivity that will accelerate healthcare use, the FCC has a critical role in expanding access to improved health services and lowering costs of delivery.

This is a momentous time for healthcare. Access to telehealth is a benefit to the nation. The ATA commends the FCC for recognizing this need and is pleased to offer its support for the Connected Care Pilot Program.
